Me: If I give you a dollar, will you sing a song while you drive me to work?
Cab Driver: What?
Me: You can sing any song you want.
Cab Driver: Why would I wanna sing a song for a dollar?
Me: Ok, let’s say it’s more than a dollar. It would be like those guys in Italy – they wear a striped shirt and row a boat and sing. They get paid a lot. We could start a thing here, make New York famous like that.
Cab Driver: Would that be extra after the fare and my tip?
Me: Yes, but just think, this is way bigger than that. In 5 years people will talk about the cab drivers in New York and how they sing when they drive, because you’ll offer to sing a song for your next fare if they give you five dollars. Then you’ll tell other drivers and they’ll do the same thing. Just think, someday a long time from now, people will want to know how this started and maybe they’ll make a documentary about you. You can have all the credit for the idea. Tell them you thought of it. So, what do you say?
Cab Driver: (laughs) I don’t think the taxivision people will let that happen.
Me: I’m not getting a song, am i?
Cab Driver: No.
