During whaling season, the Polar Bears come on shore to feed in Kaktovic, Alaska
They mostly rest during the day. Sunning themselves. They swim to the strips of land off short from the Polar Ice shelf. As the ice shelf has gotten smaller due to melt, some don’t survive the swim.
The bone pile is where the villagers discard the carcasses of the whales they have caught. They put them as far away as possible.
As dusk falls, they go to the bone pile at the farthest edge of land.
Polar bears, while cute, are quite dangerous, and one does not want them wandering through town.
