The Breeze Was the Best Part

On my 27-block walk to work:

— Bad-smelling man instructing a plastic cup on matters of religion & politics
— Three tourists narrowly avoiding disaster as they gawked up at buildings but didn’t possess the New Yorker’s skill of 360-degree awareness
— One person nodding and wishing me a good mornign. Randomly, it was comedian Richard Lewis in black suit, wearing sunglasses identical to mine
— One of my neighbors heading homeward (20 blocks away), disheveled
— A guy starting his morning by yelling at someone via cell phone (good luck pal, those kinds of days don’t tend to improve)

Everyone else was wearing earbuds, heads buried in their smartphones.

The breeze was nice this morning.
