I clicked like on something, unaware it would commit me to writing 10 things you might not know about me. I keep my word:
1. I’m left-handed, but can do most things with either. Scissors with neither.
2. I went by “Bobby” until age six. One of my sisters taught me to spell it by saying ‘line ballie, ballie, line ballie, line ballie, line line’ (use your imagination). I have friends who have tortured me for decades about that.
3. By the time I was 21 I had sold greeting cards door-to+door, been a paperboy, swimming pool cleaner, short order cook, ice cream manufacturer, retail store clerk, bookstore stock room worker, airport line crew, dining hall cleaner.
4. One of the most important formative experiences of my life was working six summers as lifeguard/counselor/bus driver at a camp for the mentally handicapped.
5. In my 20s, i spent 2 1/2 years working in Mexico two weeks, then home to Scottsdale, AZ 2 weeks.
6. I have lived in South Carolina, Boston, Arizona and LA
7. A friend in New York convinced me to help organize a series of weekend shows featuring bluegrass music and New Yorker cartoonists.
8. I have a chinese nickname, but i still don’t know if it’s baobao or bibo
9. I have seen a tiger swim from one island to the next then leap to land 50 feet in front of the boat i was in
10. I’m a private person, so this is probably as much info as you’ll get on facebook.
